What a WhatsApp AI sales agent actually costs.

Three bills sit behind every quote in this market: the platform, the AI doing the work, and Meta's delivery fees. This is how each is charged, what a sales agent needs that a support bot does not, and a worked month in Rands.

The short answer

On Gojify, an AI sales agent on WhatsApp starts at R1 650 a month, which replies, qualifies, captures the details and takes a deposit. Follow-up on silence, tools into your own systems and broadcasts, the parts that chase a lead, start on Growth at R3 850 a month. The AI is included in both, there is no per-seat charge, and Meta's WhatsApp fees are billed to you directly at cost, which for replies inside the 24-hour window is R0.

Three costs, often quoted as one

The platform is the software: the agent, the shared inbox, the automation. The AI is the work the agent does on each conversation, and vendors charge for it in very different ways: included, as a separate seat, per message, or as a tier you get moved onto once volume grows. Meta is the delivery network, and every provider pays Meta the same published rates. Compare quotes with the three pulled apart, because a low platform price can sit on top of an AI fee or a Meta markup that only shows on the invoice.

What a sales agent needs that a support bot does not

A support bot answers the question in front of it. A sales agent has to qualify the lead, capture what it learned, book the next step and, crucially, come back when the lead goes quiet. That last part is where quotes in this market tend to move up a tier, so here is exactly where each piece sits on ours.

On every plan

  • An agent that acts

A lead who messages is interested now. The agent replies in seconds at any hour and moves the sale on, rather than promising a call back.

  • Contact fields

Your qualifying questions, such as budget, timing and what they are after, land on the customer's record as data you can filter, not buried in a transcript.

  • Payments in the chat

A deposit or booking fee requested through your own PayFast account while the customer is still in the conversation.

  • Customer ownership

Each lead gets a lasting owner on your sales team, kept separate from whoever handled today's conversation.

  • One-click takeover

When a deal needs a person, your salesperson steps in and the agent steps back.

From Growth

  • Custom API tools

Check real stock, hold a slot in your real diary or put the lead into your CRM, inside the chat.

  • Workflows

Follow up when a lead goes quiet, without depending on somebody remembering to.

  • Broadcasts

Reach a segment of past leads with an approved template, with replies landing on a stage written for that campaign.

So an agent that replies, qualifies and takes a deposit starts at R1 650 a month on Starter. One that also chases, checks your systems and runs campaigns starts at R3 850 on Growth. Both include the AI, and neither charges per seat. Every limit is on the pricing page.

How the AI is charged, and why sales costs more than support

Credits measure the AI work done on your behalf: reading a conversation and writing a reply, searching your documents, running an AI step in a workflow, or answering you in Copilot. They exist so AI cost is visible and bounded rather than hidden in the price. Your allowance is also your spend limit: when it is gone the AI pauses rather than carrying on spending.

Sales conversations sit at the busier end of the table below, because qualifying and booking means looking things up and calling tools rather than giving a quick answer.

Roughly what the AI's work costs
ActionCredits
A plain agent reply0.24
A reply deep in a long thread0.35
A reply that calls a tool, such as checking a calendar0.46–0.53
A reply that searches your knowledge base0.62
An AI step in a workflow0.70–0.80
A typical whole conversation1.64
A very long 20-turn conversation7.89

Averages measured on real traffic on the live platform, here to help you plan rather than to quote you. One pattern explains the whole table: how much the AI has to write. Length of output, not complexity of setup, is what costs, which means usage is predictable and a well-scoped agent is a cheap one.

Per conversation, it is a range. The booking-heavy row is the one that describes a sales agent: lots of capture and scheduling, at about 2.07 credits a conversation.

A worked month

Take a sales agent on Growth, with 3 000 credits, for a business whose leads arrive on WhatsApp. Each lead is qualified, has its details captured and is offered a viewing or a call, at about 2.07 credits a conversation. Add an AI-written follow-up when a lead goes quiet, at about 0.75 credits each, and say 400 of those a month. That uses 300 credits and leaves room for roughly 1 300 new sales conversations a month, about 43 a day.

If those follow-ups go out after the 24-hour window as marketing templates, Meta charges about R0.70 each, roughly R280, billed to you directly. Replies inside the window cost R0 at Meta.

Prices and credit costs come from our published pricing and a measured study of real traffic on the live platform. The 400 follow-ups are an assumption to show the arithmetic, not a measurement, and your own first month is the only accurate guide. Meta revises its rates quarterly, so check Meta's own rate card for the figure on the day.

Four questions to ask any vendor

These apply to us as much as anyone. For the wider buying decision, see how to compare WhatsApp platforms, and for Meta's side in detail, WhatsApp Business API pricing in South Africa.

1

Is the quote for an agent that replies, or one that follows up?

Where we stand

Follow-up on silence, tools into your own systems and broadcasts start on Growth at R3 850. If you are quoted for less, check those three are in it.

2

Is the AI included, and what happens when it runs out?

Where we stand

Every plan carries a monthly AI allowance with no per-message AI fee. When it is gone the AI pauses and conversations go to your team. There is no overage billing.

3

Does adding a salesperson raise the bill?

Where we stand

No. Seats come with the plan, six on Starter and ten on Growth, with no per-seat charge on any tier.

4

Can you read the API documentation before you sign?

Where we stand

If the agent has to reach your CRM or booking system, the API is part of what you are buying. Ours is published openly, and API access comes with Growth and above. Read the API reference.
