What a credit is, and what uses one
Credits measure the AI work done on your behalf: reading a conversation and writing a reply, searching your documents, running an AI step in a workflow, or answering you in Copilot. They exist so AI cost is visible and bounded rather than hidden in the price. Your allowance is also your spend limit: when it is gone the AI pauses rather than carrying on spending.
Plan credits
Included monthlyReset at the start of each billing month. Unused plan credits do not roll over, so 400 unused credits on Starter do not become 1 400 next month.
Extra-use credits
Once-off packsNever expire. They stay in your balance until you use them. Plan credits are always spent first, so you get the full value of your monthly allowance before touching anything you paid extra for.
Uses credits
- AI replies to your customers, where most credits go
- Knowledge-base look-ups as part of a reply
- Tool calls, such as checking a calendar or fetching an order
- AI steps inside workflows, anything that writes or summarises
- Copilot, the assistant in your dashboard
- Guided setup while it is working. Approving what it drafted is free
- Sandbox testing, because it is the same AI doing the same work
Never uses credits
- Sending and receiving messages. WhatsApp's own fees are billed separately by Meta
- Your team replying by hand. Never costs credits
- Contacts, tags, stages, or how much history you keep
- Approving, editing or discarding anything the setup assistant drafted
- Reading analytics, exporting a CSV, or reviewing a past run
| Action | Credits |
|---|---|
| A plain agent reply | 0.24 |
| A reply deep in a long thread | 0.35 |
| A reply that calls a tool, such as checking a calendar | 0.46–0.53 |
| A reply that searches your knowledge base | 0.62 |
| An AI step in a workflow | 0.70–0.80 |
| A typical whole conversation | 1.64 |
| A very long 20-turn conversation | 7.89 |
Averages measured on real traffic on the live platform, here to help you plan rather than to quote you. One pattern explains the whole table: how much the AI has to write. Length of output, not complexity of setup, is what costs, which means usage is predictable and a well-scoped agent is a cheap one.
How many conversations is that?
Honestly, it is a range. Across a measured study of real traffic the cheapest conversation cost 0.23 credits and the most expensive 7.89, a 34 times spread, depending on how much looking-up and writing your agent does. So size by workload rather than by a single number.

A worked example
A dental practice on Growth, with 3 000 credits. Most conversations are appointment enquiries: the customer asks, the agent checks the calendar, offers two slots, confirms one and captures a name and medical-aid number. That is booking-heavy, about 2 credits each, so roughly 1 450 conversations a month, or 48 a day. Add a personalised reminder the day before at about 0.75 credits, and 300 of those a month leaves them around 1 340 conversations. Comfortable, with room for a busy month.

Once-off, bought from your dashboard, and they never expire. For sustained higher volume, moving up a plan costs less per credit than buying packs.
What happens when credits run out
You are notified at 80% of your allowance and again when it is gone. Your customers are still looked after, because conversations are handed to your team rather than left unanswered. Your inbox, contacts, history and manual replies keep working normally. There is no overage billing and you are never charged for spend you did not choose.
Prices in ZAR, excluding VAT where applicable, billed by PayFast. Annual is priced at ten months. Monthly AI credits refresh each month and do not roll over; purchased packs never expire. WhatsApp conversation fees are charged by Meta directly at their published rates and are not included above. Credit figures are estimates averaged from measured traffic, offered for planning; your own usage is the only accurate guide.
